SALON NAME: The Ritual Rooms

If off-the-menu treatments aren't quite cutting the mustard, London's most bespoke salon The Ritual Rooms might have the answer. The concept of the salon revolves around its well-equipped 'ritual rooms', where guests can create their own tailored (and private) beauty experiences - from massage and facial treatments to haircuts and styling sessions. Multiple therapists can be booked in one appointment for an all-over pamper, or try the holistic massage; it's a sure-fire way to ease tense muscles and lift a gloomy mood.

As home to Bridget Jones' infamous 'romantic mini break', the golfing scene in Goldfinger and Daniel Craig's underworld meetings in Layer Cake, a stay at the luxurious Stoke Park evokes more than a little déjà-vu. Surrounded by 350 acres of sweeping parkland, the beautiful, century-old club house and its contemporary little sister, the Pavilion, are home to nearly 50 exquisitely decorated rooms and the Spa SPC. With a marvellous view from every window, whether you choose an aromatherapy massage, a session in the marble steam rooms or a dip in the indoor swimming pool, this truly is a lesson in how to spa like a film star.

SALON NAME: L'Horizon Hotel & Spa

A group of us went to Jersey for a long weekend. We had been recommended by locals that the L'Horizon was the hotel to stay. We weren't disappointed! The location was just the best. Our room was overlooking the beach and sea, had a balcony with loungers and anything else to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The vast numbers of restaurants to choose from was lovely, as you could have expensive or inexpensive. The Terrace was the best value and as it was on the beach front, even better. A bus stop right outside the hotel took you into St. Heliers and returned. No need for a car, in fact you wouldn't need to have a car at all, as the buses went everywhere. I highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing and enjoyable time.

SALON NAME: Goddess Health and Beauty

CHRISTINA Christoforou's North London-based salon, Goddess, is surely one of the most slickly-run establishments on the beauty scene. Within its state-of-the art treatments rooms clients can choose from an extensive range of treatments from Botox and Fillers administered by acclaimed cosmetic doctor, Dr Michael Prager, to more traditional massages, facials, spray tans and even JinnyLash eye lash extensions. Goddess is definitely worth a commute from anywhere across the country. In fact, a dedicated body of clientelle venture from Dubai, France, Libya and Nigeria for the outstanding service and faultless treatments. Christina, 31, started the business 12 years ago with her mother Penelope and they have nurtured a devoted client base as well as a growing celebrity following. The manicure and pedicure I had, using Leighton Denny products, was without doubt one of the most thorough and relaxing experiences and my nails looked immaculate for days after. The atmosphere in the salon is homely but professional, with Christina herself overseeing everything from client bookings to intricacies of each treatment. For warm service and cutting-edge treatments, Goddess is a one-stop beauty shop.

SALON NAME: Danesfield Spa

I booked a 2 night spa break for my family over the Easter week-end. We were pleasantly surprised with Danesfield House. I believe some of the critics here are too harsh. The staff was very courteous, attentive and helpful, carrying our bags from our car to our room, parking our car, etc. The brasserie and restaurant, while on the pricy side, offer quality food and, in the case of the restaurant, really deliver an excellent culinary experience with some fine French cuisine. Note that portions are sometimes on the small size depending on which dish you go for, but flavour is always there. The breakfasts was delightful with quality pastries, fruits and cereals. However, you will need to pay an extra £12 for the cooked breakfast, which really disappointed my wife. Our room had a view on the formal gardens (I think we were upgraded free of charge as I don't remember asking for such a room). It was really spacious with a four-poster king-size bed, a sofa, a desk, etc. Beware of the mattress. Ours was quite hard. The mansion is generally very charming and there is a lovely English period feel to it. We found the spa treatment to be of high quality and suitable duration (around 60 min per treatment). The facilities are few: the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room but of quality. However, what made our stay particularly pleasant was the fact the place was nowhere near as crowded as we feared it would be. Barely more than 2 people in the pool; steam room and sauna empty most of the time, etc. 3 people in the gym maximum... This really made the experience far more enjoyable than, say, Hoar Cross Hall. Overall we are very satisfied with Danesfield House and will definitely come back.

We stayed one night at this hotel, and were thoroughly impressed from the moment we arrived. Admittedly, we didn't have dinner, having eaten prior to our late arrival. The room was comfy and warm, although the bed could have been comfier. We were in a room near the top of the house, but the porter expertly navigated the narrow stairs with our cases. Unfortunately, the next morning we had to drag our cases back down the winding passage ourselves. The spa was very relaxing, and we spent much of the morning sitting by the pool reading and relaxing. The hotel was good value for money, the breakfast was generous and superb, although the queue at reception to check out did make for a very long wait.
