K Spa at London’s K West Hotel - one of
the top urban spas in the capital. The perfect choice if you are
looking for pure indulgence and total relaxation.
It got off to a good start when I received a warm and friendly welcome on arrival and immediately started to unwind. Having had been offered a drink in the light, elegant waiting lounge I was shown to the changing area and given a run down of what was available and how to get the most out of each area.
I was to experience a new treatment known as the "muscle ease stretching massage" which K West was to launch shortly. It's also known as a Royal Thai massage because the technique was used on the Thai Royal family where traditionally, there could be no direct skin contact.
I was taken to a cosy, dimly-lit room
where there was no table and instead the room contained wall to wall
soft mats and cushions. Lying directly on the floor is much more
comfortable than being on a table. I was then covered in soft towels
and given a rather beautiful orange sheer silk bandeau for my upper
body. The therapist explained the process at each stage so there were
no surprises.
The combination of massage and stretching was wonderful, actually giving the sense that the muscles are being pushed and feeling the benefit without actually having to do any work because the therapist is doing it all. By the end I felt toned and relaxed with the muscles eased - an extremely pleasant sensation.
After that, my body was reluctant to get going in the best possible way but I managed to float into the spa which offered many delights - a large, mosaic-tiled hydrotherapy pool, foot spa, saunas at two different temperatures with the aroma of methyl, a steam room and a room full of ice and snow (the latter not for the faint hearted). Each was immaculately clean and very enjoyable. I tried them all, going from one to the next - possibly not in the right order but enjoyable nonetheless.
A great experience at K West which left me thoroughly relaxed and invigorated!! I was left with a perfect feeling of well-being - highly recommended!
